The Glass Stained with Magic
The colours and mesmerising light effects achieved by stained glass exert a powerful hold- and not just on potential customers. So facinated was Marten Crawford 11 years ago, that he abandoned a career with IBM in The U.K. to become a stained-glass artist.
After completing training, his first work was to repair shattered panels, decorated with acanthus leaves, for a Convent. That was the genises of a new life.
"I do everything from the ordinary to the extraordinary", he says. Much of his work falls into the latter category, given the degree of highly detailed hand-painting he undertakes - often lending an unusual air of enchantment to his pieces.
Commissions for Government buildings, corporate headquaters, and religeous buildings, even Cruise liners around the world are among his repertoire.
